When someone does a good reverse harem, each protagonist stands out. They have their own personalities. Well....not in this book. There’s not a lot of differences in their voices. I ended up having no idea who was talking during the chapter because they all sounded so similar.There’s also a lot of contrived drama here that the characters portray as “darkness”. The author was trying to portray them as badass assassins, but none of them felt or read like badasses. You don’t connect with the FMC and she’s mostly just all smiley and laughy that she’s with these hot guys. Ughhh it was hard to finish even 50% of this. I’m wondering if this was the Authors first book maybe? I guess the only reason I’m giving this two stars is for the editing. I didn’t catch a single error. And I was so incredibly bored & def was looking for them.I think the storyline perhaps could have been pretty cool. But there wasn’t enough descriptions, NO character development, and a bunch of repeated unnecessary words. Honestly I couldn’t finish it and I try to finish books even if I don’t like them much. This book was just too boring and had such bad characters I couldn’t even look forward to any sexy times ( which sadly....ALSO weren’t well written here).If the author did her own editing I think THAT is her wheelhouse. I mean editing is HARD, most good writers can’t edit well and will always miss things and need it professionally done. And most editors can’t write. 😬 Kinda like ....here. This is a great new author I started reading after a recommendation from a dear friend, and she was absolutely right, this book was great and I loved it to pieces. It is well written, superhot, has a very intriguing original story, and great characters.The story is a bit dark as it follows assassins of the Infernal Blade, so their background and their stories are not all fluffy and happy, but full of violence. However, they find each other and there is beauty in love in their relationships.The main character is Mara, a succubus, and she is pure perfection. The guys get introduced gradually and they are super amazing, and quite unusual in their other nature. First we meet Declan and Everett, and get to know them better as Mara is getting to know them better. And then Evan and Amari join the story and the group is complete and perfect. Then there is Mara’s best friend Rora who is just freaking adorable.The bonds between and among the characters are amazing, and I am not just talking about sizzling hot scenes, but in general. There is so much love, trust, loyalty, closeness, and genuine caring, it is just beautiful.There are some bad guys here and the mysterious Elders. Some unpleasant altercations and tons of good old totally justifiable vigilantism. Loved it. Overall, I loved this book and can’t wait to read more. I’m so glad I found this author, as she makes a great addition to my favourites.Be ware, the ending is a cliffhanger, a fantastic one, I must add, it changes the perspective on everything and it makes it an absolute must to get my hands on the next book.
